Organic sourcing in Morocco: how JNP selects its orchards

Back to news

Every partner orchard is ECOCERT-certified. Residue testing on every intake. What traceability actually means at JNP.

JNP sources only from certified organic orchards. That has been a deliberate constraint since 2008. It is maintained even when it complicates logistics during lean harvest seasons.

What happens at intake

Every truck arriving at the Roches Noires plant triggers the same protocol: visual check, Brix, pH, acidity. For organic batches, we also test for pesticide residues — not on every intake, but on a frequency defined by our ECOCERT control plan. Non-conforming batches are rejected.

Traceability goes down to the plot level. A client can request the source farm, harvest date and transport conditions. We have that information.

Why no conventional fruit in the organic line

The short answer: the certification does not allow it. ECOCERT audits our sourcing, not just our processing. Mixing conventional fruit into the organic chain would end the certification.

There is also a commercial risk. European buyers trust the organic label. That label is our liability.

The link with Mimona

Part of our supply comes from Mimona estate, 560 ha in the Gharb region. It is a subsidiary of the Holmarcom group. This is not our only source. But it is the most direct: identified orchard, known farmer, short distance.
